Scary because it's trying to get rid of the corruption and not letting other countries take the natural resources like in the past, ( Oil, Mining industries, etc), now seniors citizens in Mexico receive a pension every 2 months, before most of the money from taxes was stolen from the people, now we have the Maya Train built, Oil refinery bought in Texas, Train Transismico to compete with Panama, etc. all done in less than 5 years, infrastructure built everywhere in Mexico.

We weren’t impressed. But Idk about it costing more than the US. I certainly don’t think it was that much. It’s expensive here in the states. But Ajijic certainly was more expensive than Guadalajara. And it was probably the most expensive Mexican town I’ve visited. But most of the so called “Magic Towns” have inflated prices. That’s what tourism does I guess.

It’s hard to specify in a title, since there is a character count, however it’s meant to imply that 20K expats (Americans and Canadians) are living in Chapala which includes Ajijic. Currently Ajijic has a population of approximately 11,500 - 12,500 residents, and it's estimated that between 20 and 40% of the residents are expats(who knows how old the sign is) And According to Instituto Nacional de Migración there are currently about 12,500 full time residents living in Chapala and a little over 20,000 in the winter months so this number changes depending on the season. As far as my estimate on cost, I got my numbers from my own time there as well as Jerry & Lori Brown of Jerry Brown Travel on RUclips as he currently lives there and chose Ajijic as a place to retire. But I guess it’s all about how you spend your money and how you want to live. When I’m in Guadalajara I spend no more than $250 a month on an apartment but I know many who spend 4& 5 times as much. Also I believe his ( Jerry Brown) estimate on how much it cost per month only includes rent and utilities not food and other expenses as this would vary greatly depending upon lifestyle. Price is certainly increasing in this area though. That’s why I personally prefer Guadalajara.

Oh that sucks! In my experience the city of Guadalajara is pretty safe overall but there are a lot of nicer places to stay that cost about the same price. I didn’t like the hostel vibe this place had going on and all the crazy rules. We ended up finding a much better place just a few blocks away for about the same price ( $18 a night). We have lots of videos reviewing all the places we’ve stayed in GDL over the years.

We’ve stayed all over the city of GDL. In some good places and many bad places too. But this was my favorite place to stay in Guadalajara. And for only $15 a night! @TheAdventuresofDrewandAmanda. LaborDay, my daughter & I just rented #5, efficiency apt , sleeps 4, 2 queen beds + queen sofa bed pullout in large Kitchen area. We Loved close walk to beach & pool! Short drive for groceries & restaurants. Will rent #5 AGAIN.

What does that mean? There are plenty of technological advances in Mexico. It’s about the same as the US. They have everything we have. They just prioritize nature and outdoor activities more than the US.

I feel given Mexico as a big country I never came across scientific advances in medicine, defence, satellite communication, AI, Robotics, Made in Mexico, products etc. Prioritizing nature will not bring economic prosperity. If so why gang wars are heard?

@@user-jz4ge4fk6s Mexico is absolutely not what mainstream media would like you to believe. Their economy is booming even so to the point that I bought shares of stock in their overall economy after visiting the first time. They are a bit like we are in the 90s, and are just about to hit a big boom. They are well insulated and unlike us they make EVERYTHING they use and do not import anything. I did not see any gangs or violence and felt very safe. In the 70s & 80s there were drug wars that led to the creation of Mexican gangs but they would have not been possible without the Americans who not only purchased the drugs but also allowed the drugs to come in our country. So truthfully there is no more gangs or crime in Mexico than there is in the USA. As far as technology goes, Mexico is pretty advanced. What the media shows us are rural areas in Mexico but the majority of people live in areas that are as advances as the US. Often with advancement comes a loss of culture so the Mexican government tries to protect their own by creating laws that keep big tech companies like Apple or Amazon from doing business there. While I was there I had some medical procedures done and their technology was equally as advanced as ours yet they didn’t require jumping through the hoops of the American medical system or filing for insurance. Honestly Mexico has the best of both worlds and does a good job of balancing culture and technology. I love the US but it is declining rapidly. Mexico is only getting better. Slow and steady I guess.

Also, you probably don’t hear about technological advances in Mexico because the US doesn’t want you to. But Mexico makes a lot of things in fact much of our tech is made in Mexico. Mexicans also invented the first personal computers, color TVs, birth control, vending machines, Caesar salad, and built the first atomic bomb.

Well these different routes are already set up and are included for multiple people or groups. They include several things like horseback riding or atv and time down at the waterfall and drinks and lunch/picnic & then they go to the tiger reserve or somewhere else. you can signup to go with them, they usually take a group of people out early in the morning and include several tourist attractions. And everythings included. But we wanted to go up there by ourselves and we didn’t want to go with a group so they set us up with a guide and charged us accordingly. We just went with one guy and not a group on a “tour” but you can do either I suppose.
